2019 Roundtable - Toronto, Canada
The Peoples Church

It is with great excitement that we announce the 2019 Refugee Highway Partnership North America Roundtable in Toronto, Canada. This year's theme is "place" looking into thoughts from Exodus 33:21:

“Then the LORD said, "There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock.”

We hope that you will join us on October 23 – 25, 2019. The Roundtable will be held at The Peoples Church.

Why do we call it a Roundtable?

We convene the gathering of a tribe. It’s a particular group of people who share a passion for forcibly displaced people. We meet in North America on an annual basis to learn, encourage each other, and make collaborative plans to implement initiatives. At a round table, every member of the tribe has a voice. We aspire to create a platform to unify many diverse ministries, services, and individuals to bring about action that would please the heart of Jesus as he sees us welcoming the foreigner in our midst and showing the mercy that he first offered us.

The focus of the Roundtable is to serve those devoted to welcoming the nations on our doorstep who come with two suitcases from their former life, but hearts hungering and hopeful for a brand new future. In their first year, a shockingly small percentage will be invited into the home of a North American. Due to color or creed, lack of language or education, most will experience prejudice, suspicion, avoidance, resentment – and, most of all, loneliness. These refugees offer the Church the opportunity to live out the mandate Jesus gave us to welcome the stranger and love our neighbor as ourselves.
